Get into your body and let it guide you

As women, because we are often responsible for others in many ways, our attention is up in our heads and out in the external world. We look for answers, comfort, validation, support, even love outside ourselves. What we forget is that all these things are not outside us, they are inside us. When we connect with the wisdom of our bodies, we get better answers, more comfort, validation of our strengths and weaknesses. We make better decisions when we are connected to our bodies.

How do we get reconnected? How do we even know whether we are connected or not? Instead of having your attention up in your head and out in the world, bring your attention in and down, down into your heart and your belly. In this place, you feel safe and secure. This is where the root and sacral charkas are. This is where your life force is.

This is where you can rest and find peace and calm. You might be very surprised at the decisions you make from this place, the words that come out of your mouth, the motivation for change or your life’s path.

I spent many years in my head. This is not really a safe place for me because my brain can convince me of anything, even if it’s exactly the wrong thing to do. When it was, my self-talk would beat me up and I was in anguish for days and weeks depending on how bad the decision was that I made. Now, when I drop my attention down into my heart and belly (two of the three centers of intelligence within us), I feel confident, centered, grounded and have access to the wisdom and guidance I need to move forward.

I have made many changes in my lifestyle over the past few years and especially over the past three months to improve my health and reduce the possibility of disastrous health problems. The biggest challenge for me was changing what I was eating and eliminating things like salt and caffeine and other favorite foods. I have tried to do this in the past but it’s been unsustainable. Now, I feel totally different. I don’t like these changes but I am doing them anyway. I found my motivation and my authority inside myself. It works for me and I believe it will work for you as well.
